intro
Soon wearing new album from self-proclaimed "positive-hardcore-dance-rap band" Ninja High School, ruined by its sloppy production
Ninja High School describe themselves as a "positive-hardcore-dance-rap band." Actually they are five art students who shout a lot over not overly complicated backing tracks. This is in itself no bad thing and many groups have forged passable careers on similar paths. There are tracks on this album that do make you want to shout along and dance in an increasingly stupid fashion. Live shows from this lot would surely be a lot of fun. ‘Positive Laser’ is especially good and ‘Shake It Off’ is surely a party classic. Unfortunately half the time it’s impossible to work out what they are actually shouting at you. Speaking at speed and being intelligible over music is not as simple as it might seem. Occasional words may filter through the sonic storm but trying to get to grips with actual gist of the majority of tracks here is rather like trying to climb a greased pole. While you may enjoy Young Adults Against Suicide for a while, especially if you’re cavorting with friends at the time, eventually it all becomes a bit wearing. A little more careful production here would have gone a long way.
