intro
Debut EP from London band the Mourning After with strong heavy American punk influence
The Mourning After are four lads from London; Bob Behar, Edan Felman-Vazan, Mark Driver and Sam Roth, who claim to be influenced by indie, punk, new wave and electro. I can’t see much electro about them. There is definitely a nu-punk sound, with something about the first track of this EP, '2195', sounding unexpectedly like Placebo. The title track, 'Happy Endings Make you Weak', is the second track on this EP, and relies heavily on drums with the guitar kept simple. 'Misconception' and 'Burst the Bubble', the final tracks, weren’t as strong in my view, but that’s often the way. Despite the scenester hair cuts, they have more in common with American punk than with the British New Wave punk scene that’s around at the moment.
