intro
Stunning new CDS from Morrissey, which compensates for his disappointing and over-rated recent album, 'You are the Quarry'
'Let Me Kiss You' is Morrissey at his most elegant and is one of the few stand-out and decent tracks from his over rated latest album, 'You are the Quarry'. 'Let Me Kiss You', which has two CDS editions, is definitely for the fans. After all, could you really imagine Morrissey kissing anyone other than in a media-style lovey dovey way ? The backing is so Smiths in its sound that it needs a health warning on it. 'Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice'. which appears on the first CDS, is a new song. It has been much praised and for good reason. It combines lyrics about growing up and admiring one's creators along with some of the most rocking Moz backing instrumentation in a damned long time. This is also the debut release of Morrissey's new main guitar man, Johnny Marr look-a-like Jesse Tobias. The second CDS also has new tracks. 'Friday Mourning' is more reflective, but still sounds like Morrissey at his very best. It has a real anthemic quality, and is far too good to be put on a B side. 'I am Two People' is again reflective and, as with all of these new tracks, was recorded in LA Like its predecessor, it finds Morrissey at the heights of his songwriting powers. If only he had put these B-sides on it, 'You are the Quarry' would have been a far better record. A new "platinum" version of ''You are the Quarry' will be released in the future with possibly different tracks. Hopefully it will have some of these on.
