intro
Dull anthemic rock from solo artist Joe Cang, which proves to be sadly bereft of strong ideas
Think music you can tap your fingers to on the steering wheel when you're stuck in a traffic jam. Think Phil Collins! Think Steve Lillywhite producing! OK, the worst of Joe Cang's 'Firefly' is right at the start. If you are able to get through the bombastic title track, the songs only get better, but alas are still well below par on the Scale of Kravitz. Dozens of pauses and periods fill in the lack of ideas on 'Firefly' and the album brings back memories of the days when BBC2 was boring crap. In 'Church' there are such complete instants of glorious and utter rubbish that you wonder whether the mickey is being taken out of you with the worst clichés possible plunged into one really dreary track. 'There's a whole in the moon and it shelters a few'. And just when you have stopped giggling, Joe goes 'Na na na' again, followed by 'Here I am again'. Such bad news.
