intro
Latest CD from American electronic artist Carl Martin aka Transient whose "soulful ambience evokes enough of open skies, early dawns, and sweeping vistas to soothe and entice all but the most entrenched urbanite."
American electronic artist Carl Martin, aka Transient says that "my only goal is to chill and be happy in life," and when you hear 'The Conceptual World Is Losing Its Grip', you'll believe it. Though everybody and their dog seems to be putting out some sort of "chill out" record lately, this one captures an authentically herb-tinged neo-hippy vibe to which most of the genre can only aspire. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the majority of Transient's music and artwork (he also runs an online art project) is only available on the web, neatly sidestepping the creativity-boggling issues of record labels, distribution and PR. Or maybe it's just the inherent appeal of music that sounds as though its creator has (like many of us) seen a few too many sunrises, but whatever the case, this is a stealthily addictive album. Not earth-shattering, and not likely to cause much fuss, but a CD whose soulful ambience evokes enough of open skies, early dawns, and sweeping vistas to soothe and entice all but the most entrenched urbanite. An aural defence against the nastiness of the daylight world for the generation who eschew politics and polemics and live to lose - and find -themselves in the collective joys of music and dance.
